Introduction of self

Hi, I’m Stan. Since 2006 mental health counseling has been my passion. My master’s degree from Liberty University has embedded a respect for including people’s religion and spirituality in treatment. Experience with individuals and families in crisis and who struggle with past treatment failure, informs my perspective in helping people.

MY GOAL:

When people are hurt by trauma or severe life stressors, often they feel trapped and out of control. It is my mission in life to bring healing to broken hearts and freedom to those who feel trapped. I help my client's to grow healthy perceptions of themselves and repair and create strong relationships so they can feel peaceful, complete and safe.

WHAT I OFFER:

No single approach is right for everyone, so I am trained in a variety of techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Expressive therapies, Trauma and Loss, Trauma Informed CBT, and Motivational Interviewing.

MY COUNSELING APPROACH:

My counseling approach is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Choice Theory. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques such as talk, art therapy, writing, mindfulness, visualization etc. I focus on helping clients to live consistent with their values rather than making choices driven by emotional reactivity triggered by immediate circumstance.

AREAS OF FOCUS:

CBT

Experiential Therapy

Family/Marital

Family Systems

Motivational Interviewing

Gestalt

Play Therapy

Reality Therapy

Christian Perspective

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:

I have been married since 1992 and have four children. I enjoy tinkering and art. I am heavily involved with my church. I became a counselor after attending a parenting seminar and thinking, “I could do this”. That started me on this path that has defined my ministry and calling. Thank you for allowing me to serve.
