Jennifer Haswell MA, LLPC

God never intended for His children to walk life alone and I am honored to partner with others on their mental health journey. As someone who travels that same road, I understand the courage it takes to ask for help. I applaud the step forward you are making!

MY GOAL:

To listen, encourage, empower, and equip every one of my clients with the tools they need to live the best life they can. I desire for each person to be confident in their identity and who God has called them to be.

WHAT I OFFER:

A non-judgmental and inviting space for each person to not only express themselves however they need to; but to also learn about themselves and the skills they need to be successful.

MY COUNSELING APPROACH:

My primary focus in each session is Person-Centered. I am focused on each person that sits across from me, their goals, their needs, and what they want or need to talk about in that particular session. You are the expert on you! Together, we will work toward goals and focus on learning about yourself and how you want to heal and grow. During the week, it will be up to you to put into practice the things you learn.

My secondary focus is from an Existential Theory point of view. I look at a person’s identity and who they see themselves as. I want each client to love who they are and walk with confidence in who God has created them to be.

AREAS OF FOCUS:

My areas of focus are in anxiety and depression within the ages of 12 to 26. I have been working with that age group since 2006 and have loved every minute of it! When appropriate, I insert use of Internal Family Systems as a way to educate my clients on what is happening inside their brains to teach them how they are wired.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:

I graduated from Spring Arbor University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s in Music Ministry and in 2023 from Colorado Christian University with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In between those degrees, I was a missionary, administrative assistant, receptionist, and most recently working in the public schools. I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula and have called Battle Creek home since 2011. When I’m not counseling, I can be found laying on the couch watching movies, reading a book in a hammock in the backyard, shopping with friends, dreaming of my next trip to Scotland, or talking about my biological and honorary nieces or nephews (all 38 of them).
