April Anders MA, LLPC

I believe that every person is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and I believe that God has a purpose and a plan to prosper everyone even when one struggles through dark seasons (Jeremiah 33:3). The Joy of the LORD is my strength (Nehemiah 8:10) and my lived experience bears this out. I seek to assist clients who want to move through the darkness and into the light, love, and joys of life. I take Christ as my chief exemplar and live from a position of gleaning all of life’s beautiful lessons it has to offer.

MY GOAL:

My purpose is to bring the best out in you through allowing the Holy Spirit to guide me when I am both in and out of our sessions. My prayer is always that God will meet each person at the point of their need and amaze them with His love for them.  (John 14:16)

As a licensed counselor I love to help the client reflect on their own life’s journey, and to let their lived experience guide them to the “more in themselves.”

WHAT I OFFER:

I offer a Christian perspective that creates a non-judgmental and safe environment for clients to develop in. This is the main thing above all other things that I offer.

MY COUNSELING APPROACH:

I would have to say that my counseling approach is deeply relational. I allow the clients to be the expert in their own lives, and through listening, I am able to help them identify the ‘mile-markers, signs, or directions in the form of a lighthouse’ that they need in order to move through any ‘less-than, dark, uncomfortable or dissatisfying’ stages of their lives (what and however that looks for them). I am intentional when I am getting to know my clients, and I love to integrate faith and psychology because I truly believe that the heart and the mind are gifts from God that should work together positively.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:

I love working with people and enjoy the work I do in the community. My husband and I have raised his 4 sons and are raising my 2 great-nephews. I love to study, laugh, and drink coffee. I really love worship music and being instrumental in the spiritual journey of others. I lived in Kenya for 3.5 years, and in India for 6 months as a missionary. This has really molded my understanding of how to show humility and to be clothed with the love of God with diverse cultures.
